Hair today gone tomorrow
Q. What is the best way to treat excess facial hair and how far ahead of my wedding day and when should I start the treatment?
A. Kelly Harding says: Many people suffer from unwanted hair, whether on their face or body, and it's actually very easy to have it permanently removed.
By far the best way to remove excess hair is to use laser treatment. It is safe, fast and very effective. On average, a course of six treatments is needed, at four to six weekly intervals. For a summer wedding, for example, treatment ideally needs to begin in early March.
The great thing about laser treatment is that there is no downtime or recovery period. This means that the last session could easily be carried out just a week before the big day.No one wants to worry about shaving before their wedding day or on their honeymoon. Due to the advances in laser technology, more and more people are deciding to have hair permanently removed and it is particularly popular for the face, underarms and bikini areas.
My one piece of advice would be to make sure that you have your laser treatment at a reputable clinic. Before undertaking the treatment, check that:
1. The clinic is registered with the Healthcare Commission and ask to see the certificate. 2. The person who is treating you is medically trained and understands the medication that may effect treatment. 3. The surroundings are clean and any medication you are on gets written on your file. 4. You are asked to fill out a full medical history and have a consultation prior to treatment. 5. A patch test is carried out 48 hours before treatment to test for adverse sensitivity.
