Take it from someone who really nose
Q. I have a prominent nose which has always made me self-conscious. I'm not a fan of plastic surgery, but I am concerned with how I will look in my wedding photos. Are there any make-up tips that you can recommend which will help to disguise the problem?
A. Blu says: Don't despair - there are several tricks of the trade which can help. A soft sweep of matte blusher or bronzer down the centre of the nose will reduce its size in photos. Or, to create a slimmer effect, use a gentle contour of bronzer down each side. Another idea would be to focus on a feature that you do like instead, such as your eyes or cheek bones. This will detract attention away from your nose and make you feel gorgeous on your big day. Also, try to practise your 'wedding smile' in front of a mirror in private, or get a trusted friend to take a few snapshots of you so that you can figure out what your best side is - anything that will make you feel confident and happy on the day is worth it. And remember that the things we don't like about ourselves often seem far more prominent to us than other people. |

Lush lashes
Q. I really want to play up my eyes on my wedding day but don't want to wear heavy make-up. How can I get that wide-eyed look without using dark eyeliner?
A. Blu says: For amazing eyes, the key is to have super-full, luscious, long, dark eyelashes. You can achieve this look by having semi-permanent lashes applied. They are perfect for weddings as they're totally waterproof, which means you don't have to worry about your mascara running. Or, if it's a really natural look you're after, they can even be worn without mascara. What's more, as they last for up to six weeks, they have the added benefit of taking you through your honeymoon too. I use Marvel Lash, i-lash and Lash Perfect on brides, so look out for these names.
If it's something less permanent you're after, temporary cluster lashes are popular with those who don't like wearing the classic full strips. They're designed to last for a day or two but have been known to stand the test of time for up to two weeks. Plus, depending on how many are applied, you can go as natural or as dramatic as you wish. |
